We apologise, but we have no photos from this day.
We spent the better part of the day in transit during rough and stormy
weather (with strong east/southeast winds) from Huahine to Raiatea.
Getting into Teavapiti Pass as the sun was setting, we had little choice
but to anchor behind one of the two "motus" (small islands)
guarding the pass entrance. Two other boats had already taken the best
spots. As a result of the wind shifting to the south and remaining strong,
we were hammered all night and barely slept. Furthermore, our anchor
dragged after we went to bed and the alarm was raised by the gentlemen
on the neighbouring yacht, after which we had to re-anchor by torch
light. All in all, a bad day and a worse night. |
